Reform UK backed Brexit fails supporters

A closer relationship with the EU will create needed economic opportunities to repair Brexit damage and deliver on voter expectations, campaigners urge.

The National Centre for Social Research has released their annual British Social Attitudes (BSA) survey which found Reform UK voters reflected the coalition that backed the UK's exit from the EU.

These findings come as Best for Britain, which worked with Liam Byrne MP, YouGov, KCL and ethnographic researchers Faster Horses, published research to understand the motivations and priorities of Reform UK’s supporters.

Naomi Smith, Chief Executive of Best for Britain, said:

“It’s no surprise Reform UK’s supporters recognise they’ve been let down by a failed economic consensus, but they need reminding it was politicians in Westminster, not Brussels, who chose to shut SureStart centres, underfund further education colleges, and drag their heels on building sufficient homes, transports links and energy infrastructure.

“Far from creating those problems, our EU membership helped lessen the negative impact of decisions made by successive governments, which is an inconvenient truth for the chief architect of Brexit, Nigel Farage. As our research has shown time and again, it’s a far closer relationship with our friends and allies in Europe which is now the only policy lever that can deliver the transformational economic change Britain so desperately needs, and voters have made clear they expect.”
